Houston ranks second nationwide for corporate relocation

More companies are moving to Houston.Texas was the top state in the country last year for corporate relocation and expansion, winning the Site Selection Governor's Cup (http://www NULL.conway NULL.com/press/110301_Governors-Cup NULL.htm).

There were more than 400 new or expanded projects in the state in 2010 – a jump of 50 compared to 2009 – which helped propel it past four-time defending champion Ohio for the top spot.

"Gov. Perry has worked diligently in recent years to make his state pro-business, which is why Texas ranks as high as it does on matters of interest to site selectors," says Mark Arend, editor in chief of Site Selection. "The Governor's Cup is a clear example of this."

The Houston real estate market also remains very attractive to those looking at commercial properties. According to the report, Houston finished second, behind only Chicago nationwide among cities with more than 1 million people.

The results of that can be seen in industry predictions for various types of Houston properties. According to CoStar, Houston ranks among the top 10 markets nationwide for office, industrial, multifamily and retail.
