Housing analysts remain unsure about sales climate

Real estate agents remain unsure what this spring will bring. The tight restrictions put in place by many of the country's mortgage lenders continue to be a cause for concern for many real estate agents and brokers, who are unsure what they will mean for the spring selling season in the Houston real estate market, MSNBC reports.Over the past several months, MSBNC has repeatedly cited tight mortgage qualification standards and issues with appraisals as major issues for the housing market.”It's so hard to tell what will happen,” Sabrina Jones-Schroeder, owner of Exit Real Estate Professionals in Washington, told the source. “The lending industry remains so conservative.”Other experts said many homes may stay off the market when sellers realize they are underwater and won't be able to pay off their mortgage after a sale. That could reduce the number of attractive properties for buyers looking to avoid foreclosures.Previous analysis by the National Association of Realtors found that sales may be able to increase by 15 percent if lenders returned to the responsible standards seen before the housing boom.Courtesy of 2M Realty News
