Institutions, such as Rice University and the University of St. Thomas, set the standard for schools from all levels in the area.?In an effort to bring local public school districts up to par, Chevron Corp., which has a large presence throughout the metropolitan area, will donate up to $1 million to school systems in the area. However, it falls on the consumer to make this happen. Every time Houston drivers fill up at local Chevron and Texaco gas stations, the company will contribute $1 to 19 nearby school districts.”To be able to give $1 million to Harris County schools is pretty special,” said Fuel Your School program director of public affairs Joni Baird. The quality of local school systems can have a major impact on real estate values. For years good schools have been at the top of the list of must-haves for many homebuyers across the country.Investing in Houston real estate prior to the injection of additional funds into the local school system could be a profitable investment, as values could quickly appreciate afterward.Real Estate News brought to you by 2M Realty, a true expert in the online real estate market.
