Real estate tours, offers rise in March

More people were looking to become a homeowner last month.Many people around the country were looking to enter the home buying market this past March, as illustrated by new data released by Redfin.According to the technology-powered real estate broker, the number of people who went on tours of homes that were for sale jumped 9 percent in March from February. At this time last year, the increase was just 4 percent.Also rising was?how many people made an offer on a residence after seeing the place. These increased 22 percent from February to March, about 1 percent ahead of the same period last year.Houston real estate data for the month of March won't be reported until mid-to-late April, but if February's number are any indication of what will transpire, it could be another record-month for Houston homes. According to the Houston Association of Realtors, approximately 4,400 contracts closed on single-family homes in February.
